What was the first cd you ever bought?
The cd is now 30 years old,and fading fast as a format. I bought the eponymous Black Sabbath cd.

2. You know what's sad -- I can't remember.
I know roughly WHEN it was -- had to be the spring of 1989. I bought my first brand new from the dealer vehicle, a souped up Chevy S10 with a "high tech" interior electronics package, including a dual CD player/tape deck. But I don't have a clue what the first CD I bought was, possibly something by Genesis or Phil Collins.

14. Me either. I know I probably bought it in 1983
Because that year we had a fire in our house and all my record LP's were lost in it. So I bought a CD player for probably 300 dollars and began rebuilding my collection.

I DO remember my first LP. It was The Supremes "Where did our Love Go" in 1964. Soon after that, it was the rest of Motown and Beatles and Stones. The format was crap, the speakers were like tin cans, but to my 9 year old ears it sounded like angels from heaven!

19. No, what is sad is why I DO remember mine.
I got a really, really late start on the CD purchases. I didn't buy my first CD until the late 1990s. Even my car, which is a 1996 has a cassette player. What can I say? I had a big cassette collection at the time, and I didn't see the point in getting CD player, when I had no CDs. I had the same issue with VHS vs. DVD players. But, in my defense, I did actually go out and buy an MP3 player not that long after they came out with them. It still fascinates me that one can load hundreds of songs onto a device the size of a pack of gum AND have an FM radio on it, to boot.

3. John Cougar Mellencamp - Scarecrow
I owned the vinyl, and it was one of the first albums I wanted on CD. I was not disappointed. It is still a PHENOMENAL work of art, just genuine, honest, perfect.

10. I got my CD player as a Christmas gift, and was given a CD with it.
It was Led Zeppelin IV, which I did not have on vinyl. I don't remember what the first one was that I bought.

18. I have that one on vinyl.
Never got around to buying it on a CD. I don't remember the name of it, either. It's packed away in a box, and I'm too lazy to look for it.
