I think the narcissist, self involved lounge lizard may have gone away but the whole DU model is coming apart at the seams. DU is like a lot of those conservative places in that they work better as outsiders fighting against the great injustice. When victory comes our way, it's just not as magical as the idea of victory is. A lot of DUers seem to pine for those days of oppression to return.

I'm afraid the Lounge, as you humans like to call it, has always been about random crap.

And bored people.

The lounge moves very slowly these days as evidenced by any kayakjohnny post that takes two or three days to sink off the first page, versus the few hours in times past.

There's always an ebb and flow here, depending on who shows up. If you visit often enough you'll see some real gems in here.

it is pretty much the same as it has always been. A place for people to post whatever silliness or seriousness they feel at the moment, or pictures (thank you, Ashling) or poems, or songs (thank you, Mr. Scorpio)or jokes or kitty things.

The players may be different, but the theme is pretty much the same.

I used to spend a lot more time here, not sure why I don't anymore. Maybe it isn't as interesting or maybe I just don't have the time for it like I used to. I did have to put one current prolific poster on ignore and not because he said anything that offended me but just because everything about him bothers me. My problem, not his.

But when I do have time I still come here and read whatever is here and every now and then I post when I want to get some honest feedback.

I enjoy LynneSin a lot (she really makes me LOL sometimes). I can always count on Chan790 to give me good advice on whatever issues I have on my mind. I love reading Kali's descriptive stories about life in Arizona and have enjoyed reading about TobinS. and his new bride. I like to hear what Trof has to say because he is from the same area I live in and I like to hear his perspective. There is more I enjoy about the current day lounge, but those are what come to mind right this minute.

And I kick the 'thread that never dies' every couple of days. Most people aren't brave enough to do that (it really doesn't take me anytime at all to load, and I don't have any special super speed connection, but others say it is a problem)!

I guess you just have to decide for yourself if you like coming to the lounge and enjoying what it has to offer (or not).

It's nothing like it used to be, and it's become a fiefdom for sure, with many held hostage by a royal few. If it weren't for ignore, I would've given up on the lounge a long time ago. Every now and then you'll find a jewel of a post in here, but not too often. x(
