How many Trick Or Treaters did you get yesterday?
We had beautiful weather. Warm, dry. A perfect fall day and all we had was 2 Trick Or Treaters.

Bet we had over a hundred last year. I told my wife yesterday afternoon that I was worried we didn't buy enough candy.

What the hell happened?

50. Tons. Perhaps the most ever.
We live a block from a poorer neighborhood. They come into our neighborhood by the carload. All our candy was gone by 7:15 and we turned out the lights. Droves of kids kept going up and down our street until 8 or so. Even though every light was out. Kind of sad in a way.

2. 0 (But we were out). I think the break down of Trick or Treating is due
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 10:04 AM by ScreamingMeemie
to the (yes I'm going to say it) stupid "Trunk or Treat" things that local schools and churches do because it's "safer" (yes, people all the time are finding poisoned candy and razor blades when going door to door :eyes:). "Trunk or Treat" is a stupid idea that has ruined Halloween for children who's parents are not church members or able to afford high end schools. Plus, the decorated trunks look stupid too. Phew! Thanks, I'm glad I got that off my chest. :)

we live on a main street in a small town. All the kids mass at one end and march up the street. It is only one hour now it used to be two hours and we would run out of candy in an hour anyway.

6. A total of 15, in 4 groups
I really enjoy seeing the kids, they are so cute. The young ones are not sure what is going on and forget to yell "trick or treat", the older ones are cool and happy to get something good, the oldest ones are slightly apologetic, but still want to play. We have a huge Trunk or Treat across the street from us, I think some kids just finish there and decide to visit us. I carved a pumpkin and put a candle in it, hoping to attract a few and apparently it worked.

7. We had about 200 over the whole day
Lots of kids because school was closed due to the power outages from the snow in NY. It was fun. I had to go out at 6 and buy 5 more bags of candy and we still ran out. We gave the handful of late comers stuff from the kids trick or treating bags.

the most ever but I think word is getting around on how we put goody bags together for the kids. I always felt bad for trick or treaters here because this bible belt area thinks "celebrating" Halloween is evil. So I load the kids up.

newer tract where the houses are close together and it's more of a party atmosphere. Years ago I had lots of trick-or-treaters. No more.

Probably would have been 50 if we didn't run out of candy. It's really hard to prepare - you just never know. Maybe it has something to do with major Halloween events planned in the area in a given year?

14. In SE Denver, we got about 20-25
All little kids... maybe 5-9 and out with their parents. We had tootsie rolls (regular and pops), snickers and some kind of gummy candy in little boxes. heh, we made ribs for dinner, the whole house was filled with the smell of them and had more then one parent ask if we were giving any of those away as well :D

35. Me, too.
I got tired of having too much candy one year, not enough the next. But, what finally got me to quit handing it out altogether was when I started getting more kids who didn't say "thank you" than those that did. Ill-mannered brats.

Besides, all that doorbell ringing freaks my cat out.

20. 20 and I'm surprised we got that many
because of the recent snowstorm the mayor had discouraged trick or treating due to fallen tree limbs and power lines. Apparently because the mayor wasn't willing to impose an outright ban some folks did it anyways.

We had 220 bags of popcorn and we had to resort to the Tootsie Rolls as backup for the last 20-30.

Our neighbor puts on a free haunted house and the kids arrive by the van load.

Perhaps forgetting to turn on the porch light until 7:30 contributed to the low number.

39. My bosses kids do that trunk or treat
HE loves it because it's easy (to be fair, he has to wrangle 4 kids between 2 and 10 years old). Take em to one spot, he knows everyone there, they get filled up and done in 20 minutes and he's home watching Monday Night Football.

I just shake my head and bite my tongue though - It just seems sadly non-halloweenish to me.

Man I remember being 6 or 7 and going to the K-Mart to get Spiderman or Superman or Batman costumes that were little more than glorified pajamas made of flame retardant nylon and a crappy plastic mask with an elastic band that ALWAYS pulled my hair and ended up around my neck about 3 houses in and me and my little brothers and friends would take off at one of the neighborhood and not come back til well after dark with pounds of candy. Our folks didn;t come with us because they knew everyone in the neighborhood and folks stayed at home watching everyone else's kids. We thought we were off the leash but my mother once assured me that we were well watched the whole time.

Wouldn't even consider letting my grandkids do that these days. Their daddy took them up and down the street though so at least they didn't have a crappy Trunk or treat. And the night before they had a Halloween party with their friends.

After all was done we got close to a hundred this year and they cleaned me out. All I got left is a couple shitty Dumdums.

40. Only about 10 or so.
The numbers have been steadily going down, year after year. Kinda sad. I enjoy seeing the costumes and doing a bit of decoration, even if it ends up being only a carved pumpkin. It seems like it's a tradition that's slowly falling prey to paranoia and laziness. This, however, is why you buy candy that you like, yourself - because you get to eat the leftovers. ;)

51. kids next door came, no one else.
We rarely have more than 10-15 show up, last year and this year only the small kids from next door.
I heard that LOTS of kids are driven to a more "exclusive" neighborhood to do trick or treating.
Our neighborhood is mostly retired/single families.
Plus, many kids are taken to church events instead of being allowed to go trick or treating.
Seems a shame.
Not at all what it used to be like when my kids were little.
