we're a few days on the other side of a similar storm. nine or ten inches of wet snow on trees with all their leaves, a whole lot of broken branches everywhere.
2. It's the tree damage that worries me. Last time we had one of
these, my road was impassable for a week and the power was out for 2 weeks. BUT, I've got plenty of propane for my generator and oil in the tank and food and scotch and my dogs and my knitting. Only thing bumming me out right now is that Will and Cailen won't be coming up for the weekend.
9. You forgot:: Stock up on scotch...check! I'm on a well for water and
I have a generator that automatically kicks in when the power goes out. It's powered by an underground propane tank. I almost passed on putting the generator in when I built this house but it has turned out to be the best thing I did. The biggest problem up here would be if the dirt road I'm on becomes impassable and I couldn't get out in an emergency. In the big ice storm of 2008, the road was blocked and the Town sent the Boy Scouts up here on snowmobiles to check on us.
