Our cat is a MOUSER!!(she's a Killah!!!!!)
A couple of weeks ago it became apparent that we might have a mouse problem so I took the normal precautions (traps and poisons and such) and found a dead baby mouse on our back porch this weekend. One down but I was sure that more were to come.

Last night there was much activity in the sector. The girl, a Maine coon cat named "Pepper", was ever alert and diligent. The boy, a blonde tabby named "Sundance", appointed himself General and was a far away from the action as possible-staying on the dresser/kitchen table/coffee table high ground. He was "supervising" "leading" as Generals do.

At about 10:30 a commotion was noticeably coming from the bedroom and into the living room came running a little mouse. It took a quick left and jumped through/behind the bookcase. Pfc. Pepper was directly behind it, I got up but couldn't see anything. Pfc. Pepper stayed on her guard post through out the night as per her first general order and General Sundance retired to the climbing post (on top) to review his plans.

I got a call from my wife this morning that Operation First Strike had been a success. She is waiting on her ride to go to see the Orioles and the Red Sox play in Baltimore this afternoon-"Corporate team building" they call it.

Pfc. Pepper got A mouse in the kitchen. Blood was everywhere and both of the cats are okay but Pfc. Pepper has "tasted" blood and wants more.

As they often do General (surely 2 stars now) Sundance was in the middle of the living room on the coffee table regally puffing up his chest and willing to field questions from the media on his incredible leadership, success, and how well his plan came together.

I think Pepper should get a promotion.

2. Cats: the number one vermin repellent !!
Is it a surprise that in Chinatown (NYC) you see at least one in a corner of their master's grocery store, usually dozing off? They're on the job.

No, they're NOT for food!! Remove that filth from your mind, now !!

4. Also, check your slippers every morning.
Pepper sees you as family, and will feel obligated to share...

9. She is also chief bug detector
She detects bug that aren't there and don't exist. My wife said she cleaned everything up really well and I doubt she would try to eat it, she would chase a fly for an hour just to play with it.

17. Actually...
Cats can detect stuff that are off our frequency. She may be playing with the ghost of one of your dead relatives or of one of their dead relatives. I guess it could be a ghost of a fly or butterfly who died on your kitchen floor. You never know.

10. I'm only going to comment on one thing...
I hope you removed the poison. I'd hate to think your cats killed and ate a mouse that had eaten the poison.

13. It's spring, and the cats are busy.
Mine have been averaging a mouse a day. From outside; I didn't have them in the house. Until the tom brought a live one in the other day and set it loose. I hope he's enjoying the prolonged hunt.

15. Good Kitty!.. I LOATHE house mice...My Mouser story
Ill never forget when i was a kid we moved into a house that was INFESTED with mice. Poisons, traps..none of it worked. The two houses next to us were abandond so they were comming to our house in droves..We could not eat things in the kitchen it was so bad.
Then we got two cats from the shelter who were a day away from..you know..
They repaid us by going Rambo on the mice. It was not unsusal to see a row of mice in a perfect strieght line and the cats standing over them meowing in like " Hey look what we did! " way.. Those cats rocked and they were in the family till they passed on from old age..
Ever since then ive been a cat person. Got two now but they just protect me from waterbugs that are unfortuneate enough to pick my Apt to crawl under the door..
