5. Okra will grow in any soil, the hotter the summer the better.
Good luck next year.

6. the one year I tried..
(TY, I will do it next year! I'm still a total newb in the garden.)

So my grandma used to grow okra, but I'd never paid attention to how she did it. Then when I tried it, I thought I was doing it right, this big piece of okra was growing.. but I didn't know when I was supposed to cut it, no one was around to tell me, so I thought I was growing the greatest okra ever in the world! If I'd cut the one stalk I bet a lot more would have grown, but instead I let this one piece grow, then finally cut it. And it was hard enough to build a house out of! I had to learn the hard way I guess :dunce:

7. Smallish, up to mebbe 3" or so are the best, they're tender.
Anything much bigger than that is tough and chewy. :)

8. Will you be pickling any of it?
The only thing I like better than fried okra is some good pickled okra--as far as okra goes, anyway.
