GOING TO SPAIN ON FRIDAY... FOR TEN DAYS!!! AHHHH!

Hello fellow DUers,

I'll be away starting Friday and probably most of this week because I am going to Spain! It will be my first trip to Europe but I am not nervous one bit. Be sending positive vibes, I am not going to be using public transportation while in Madrid... but you never know. I'll be gone until the next Monday so please please try not to send me too much email :D

Our route will take us through Madrid, El Escorial, Segovia, Toledo, Avila, Salamanca, Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada and el costa del sol. There will be lots of pictures when I return... I even bought an extra memory card! :)

I look like a terrorist in my passport photo, so if you find me in Gitmo in a few months...

Love you guys and will definitely miss you all! :)

I have been to Europe several times and the 2 weeks I spent in Spain 3 years ago was by far my favorite trip. The country is incredibly clean and the people so friendly. At the time the moeny exchange was not to be believed. I spent an average of $50 a night on 3 star hotels. All were clean and safe and above average. Ahhhhh the food! And the wine! You must try a Mojito a drink made with mint and rum--yummy!! Try to find a bar in Madrid called "Viva Madrid". The tile work in the club is something to behold.

It may be a problem with your school, but I promise you being under 21 doesn't mean squat in Europe as far as bars go. I used to play pinball in the bars in Spain when I was 8, lol. Fanta Limon was my drink (lemon soda). ;-)

You should try tapa-hopping. Eating tapas at bars is a good cultural experience, and they will gladly serve you cola (Coke or Fanta are big there) in place of alcohol.

Damn schools in America are uptight. I went to a DOD (Defense Department run) school, and we used to get free smaples of sherry and brandy on field trips. Ah, the un-PC 70's. Good times.

Spain is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. I think you'll love it. Toledo is a fascinating city, if you are at all interested in the history of the Inquisition (and aren't we all???) :hi:
