2. Um ... been unemployed since 1997
That's if you count traditional employment. I had my first child in '97 and it's 100x more difficult than any job I've ever had.

Semi-working right now for a professor (10 hours a week for 10 weeks a semester). Way less than part-time so I still consider myself traditionally "unemployed".

:hi:

6. Right now. Unemployed since May 2001.
BUT...I have another interview tomorrow that looks promising...on its face.

I'm 49 and worked steadily until 2001. I doubt if I'll ever get back to the salary level I attained by age 46. I'd take just about anything right now.

I retired after 25 years as a state employee. My retitrement event was a costume party at my request). It was 6 weeks after 9/11 so I went as O'Steva Bin Leavin'...Wearing a jalaba my partner bought in Algiers in 1970, a pillowcase headdress, sandals, a fake machine gun and waving small American flags...It was quite a party. Haven't worked for money a day since.

However, I have overseen the rewiring and the painting of a 100 year old, two story house, assisted in the replumbing, redone a bedroom and helped install a tile bath, transformed the garden, and wasted hundreds of hours on DU.

2 1/2 years since I punched a clock! And I'm 50...
