When Pete Seeger passes, who will be left?
I ask this because Seeger is an American Treasure that deserves to be elevated alongside Eugene V Debs, Kurt Vonnegut, Emma Goldman, Martin Luther King and the MANY other heroes of American history. People who stood up and made their voice heard, even when it was dangerous to do so.

Seeger is still alive, living in Upstate New York.

Here's some of his magic. You see, unlike other performers who just stand up and perform, Seeger gets the entire audience to sing along. The fact there are over a thousand does not matter: every song a celebration. Every voice heard.

He has been an outspoken liberal who isn't afraid to say that word, he has faught for social and economic justice and he has the scars to prove it.

I don't believe in a god, but if there were a god, I'd want him to bless Mr Seeger.

4. I was working in D.C. with a lobbying group and Pete Seeger was coming in to say hi to everybody.
.
.
.
I had to be out of the office and couldn't get out of it -- got back about 15 minutes
after he left. Didn't get a chance to talk with him or, at the least... THANK him.
.
.
.
Arlo Guthrie carries on both the traditions of traditional and hardcore folksinging
AND frequent sing-alongs at his shows.
.
.
.
I used to have a copy of "Precious Friends" with him and Pete Seeger together. My
absolute favorite song (a sing-along) was "The Garden Song" ("Inch-by-inch, row-by-row)
in which Pete told a hilarious story about wanting to be composted when he died --
and topped it off with a dirty little ditty about what his eventual fate would be.

6th Grade Planting Kale September 26, 2011By Lowell School (Albums)

After some instructions and group assignments, 6th graders were knee-deep in collards and kale. Look out for their harvest at this year's Fall Bazaar!
