Who the hell moves at 12:30 in the morning?!?
Big-ass moving truck noisily backed into a neighbor's driveway at 11:45, knocking over garbage cans and nearly felling trees. 45 minutes and a lot of loud loading, the truck starts pulling out, guided by someone shouting directions to the driver. After knocking over more garbage cans and breaking branches off of more trees, the truck is gone.

WTF?

3. Nah, I recognized the voices and saw the tenants loading.
The (hopefully former) occupants are often hanging out and having very loud discussions in what sounds like Arabic--they're one of three immigrant Muslim families that all live in the same row of houses. They haven't quite got the hang of not being loud late at night yet, but they're better than they were three years ago when I moved here.

2. Could it have taken them awhile to get the truck, which can be a hassle sometimes, & gather up
helpers who may have had plans earlier? Or they wanted an early start, this being the weekend.

Or, are they defaulting on their loan (or lease)?

4. In January 2003, wife and I moved with DS and 3 cats from North Carolina to Pennsylvania
Yeah, I know, fucking brilliant idea on my part moving to PA in January.

"Good morning Harrisburg. It's 9 degrees outside. 8 in Camp Hill. 7 in Hershey."

Anyway, the moving truck with our stuff shows up on a Friday night, about 8:45 PM. Either we let them unload, or they keep it overnight and charge us. What the hell, move it in.

They were pretty quiet, and I was worried about potential noise. Didn't hear anything and didn't hear any complaints.

Had to switch the heat off, in January, in PA, with the sliding glass door wide open for almost 3 hours while they brought stuff in. When they were done and we got the door shut, it was 44 inside the apartment. By morning, it was 59 inside.

Moving at night, yeah it happens. Movers acting like dickheads, unacceptable.

12. That would be my first thought.
A lot of leases come and go around October 1 so all the trucks get rented around then. There are people standing around truck rental places waiting for them so maybe this was the only time they could get one.

15. Happens a lot in my apt. building.
And it's fine with me because the elevators are not
tied up during the daytime.

One strange incident though. The morning after one of those
midnight moves we discovered that the big, beautiful, crystal
chandelier in the Lobby had been disconnected and stolen!
