4. I tell you, I think Cal had something BIG on one of your local tv stations to run a 3-minute
commercial as BORING as that!

But I guarantee you Cal's commercial is worthy of Hollywoood compared to the local commercial Frankie & Johnny's Furniture from New Orleans that I posted downthread.

10. My first impression was, 'that guy's an optometrist?!'
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 12:10 AM by pacalo
He looked like he belonged in a gang.

But it really got interesting in the second video.

7. No Link,...
...but the old Kras Bros. adds in the Philly area.

The topper was a shot revolving around a coffin and Ben Kras sitting up in the coffin and saying "If you gotta go, go to Kras Brothers!"

Ben Kras was a truly aptly named man.

PEACE!

8. I found a 4-minute video compilation of commercials made in New Orleans
when I was between the ages of 11 through 15. I thought they were pretty good or maybe it's just nostalia.

For those who are interested, enjoy!

18. Here's a classic Chicago car dealership ad from the 70's
Long Chevy. "Timmy" the 'newsboy' may have been the most hated pitchman in Chicago in the 70's. He was a cousin of the dealership owners that they brought in from Minnesota. I knew the Longs and they were okay, if a bit odd. At one point, as an admission to how annoying Timmy was, they ran a commercial where he began his routine and got hit in the face with a pie.

21. Timmy's sister (cousin?) was my grade school classmate.
She was nice enough. The subject of Timmy rarely came up. And, when it did, she wouldn't talk about it.

23. I remember a Chicago one where a clown shot someone
they were forced to take it off the air it was so offensive. Anyone remember that? I don't remember what the commercial was for. It was really weird. The google
didn't help me with this.
