But for a certain job I was supposed to deliver a product demo today

I did, and made it

This was tough, because every person in the room was playing a "role"

And each role was designed to catch me off guard

And I didn't crash under pressure

I wasn't the best

But I didn't crash

So now I get to start

They say I need a lot of "work"

Fine

They will provide that work

At this point it is all about pay

And I am willing to lowball, for the opportunity

Maybe I'm playing this wrong

But, Japanese company, Japanese rules

My aviation career ended because I thought they would HAVE to accept the (modest and very reasonable) change to my contract.
I misunderestimated them.
They didn't.
If Tokyo HQ didn't invent it, it didn't exist.

You'd think I would have known better after 10 years experience with the culture.
What the hell, I was worn out and ready to hang it up at age 58 anyway.
That was 12 years ago, and I'm content.
Life goes on.
