Post your really bizarro eating habits here
Edited on Fri Sep-23-11 11:43 AM by LynneSin
Here's mine:

I love cottage cheese but not just any cottage cheese.

It must be 4% milkfat
It must be small curd
It must be either Giant's own brand or ShopRite's own brand (I've tried others - hated it)
It must come in the tub without the seal around the lid but the seal over the cottage cheese container (I've determined that the store-brand cottage cheese comes from 2 different sources and the one with the seal around the lid is really grainy tasting)
I must ad a ton of black pepper to it.
I must eat it with a fork.

...then add back the amount I want.

3. Oh geez, it's embarrassing seeing it in print -
I separate M&M's by colors and eat from most colors to least and when eating chips, I separate the broken from whole and eat the broken ones first. Mixed nuts must follow this order - pecans, hazelnuts, Brazils, almonds, cashews and then peanuts. If someone eats just a random handful of nuts or M&M's, I cringe. lol

4. When it comes to M&Ms, I eat the brown ones first
then orange, yellow, green, & finally red.

Oh wait, I eat the blue ones first cuz I can't stand to look at them.

Yeah, like the color of the M&M in anyway affects the taste. :eyes:

32. M&M's are a particular challenge, because ...
... I always want to finish with one of each color, but they also need to be nicely shaped. I eat the chipped or lumpy looking ones first.

Some foods are just made to pander to all sorts of compulsive behavior.

I'm doing nothing but serving M&Ms, Skittles, cottage cheese (of various types, containers, & seals), potato chips, nuts, mayonnaise (various types, including Miracle Whip), baked beans, leftover pizza, & anything else that's cropped up on this list.

Set it all out on a nice table, then we can all sit back & watch each other eat. Dinner & a show!

Hey,
I separate my chips, eating the small ones first, then the larger ones, then the folded over ones last because they are the best. I wish a company would make some of all folder over ones.

49. I do something similar with Skittles
I separate by color and then into groups of 5 (preferably) or 4 (if necessary)--or in some cases (but only as a last resort) 3. It gets complicated with the leftovers, and I'd rather not go into it--as you say, it's embarrassing to see it in print

But, as with you and M*Ms, I cringe at the thought of just a random handful of Skittles.

My fiance is one of the, 'random handful' types. I pointed it out to him just this last week (mixed nuts *sigh)... he said, 'Baby, I like it all going on at the same time, that's how I roll.", and then we both cracked up. I did mention to him he's a lucky man, in that I am willing to overlook this egregious foody defect of his. lol

5. There are too many to mention - but in terms of cottage cheese
Edited on Fri Sep-23-11 12:39 PM by Lucinda
I am a snob. I have never given consideration to seal issues and will check into that, and unfortunately, my brand and fat content choices are severely limited where I live. I do, however, grade based on the "slosh factor." Slosh is the result that can be felt (and heard) when giving the container a firm shake. Too much slosh is unacceptable (will be too runny,) and "no slosh" means the curd will be too dry. As of late I must have a splash of soy sauce for any non-fruited cottage cheese applications.

6. lol @ the 'slosh factor'
I do the same thing and give a squeeze of the container. I recently moved to the Chicago area and I've been buying Dean's large curd. I find it's very consistent in whey/curd ratio and tastes very fresh. I love a couple of heavily peppered tomato slices on the side with my cottage cheese.

35. *sigh* okay. I have to keep the numbers of the colors of things like M&Ms and Skittles even.
And once the numbers are even I eat cold to warm. So the last M&M I eat will always be the warmest color available. Trust me on this. Warm colors taste better than cold colors, even of the same thing.

It's a fairly common form of synesthesia. As to the even numbers, it's just a little OCD I suppose. As you might imagine, I don't eat much in the dark.

67. I buy an aged vinegar,
so it's really thick and has some elements of sweetness too. But the acidity cuts through the sweetness and richness of the ice cream.

It's a really good counterpoint.

If you can find it, and like that sort of thing, an espresso infused balsamic is excellent with desserts and fruit.

:)
