1. Sorry, but you are mistaken.
Knopfler's up there in the top 10 or 15, but the Trinity is still Hendrix, Clapton, Stevie Ray.

That's just the way it is.

I'm sure there will be aficionados of Page, Schon, that guy from Rush (whatever ...), etc. who will check in too.

:hi:

12. Hendrix said Rory Gallagher was the best
And Clapton was in absolute awe of SRV.

I really don't care about anybody's rankings, I just love good guitar.
:)

16. Clatpton has also said Buddy Guy is the best player on the planet.
He's so very humble. (And Buddy IS terrific!!!) Hence the album name "Journeyman."

Mr Mr Albert Lee. A guy I used to play with that knew Albert once said "it doesn't matter how good you are, Albert's better" :P

10. Just found some albums he did with Hogan's Heroes
guy has a wide range, from Rock n roll ( and he knows how to rock!!!) to bluegrass.
There was an updated version of Man of Constant Sorrow which I really like.
I am fond of bluegrass, also.

5. He's usually not voted as one of the best
but I've been listening to Carlos Santana since I was a kid.

Personally I think only Clapton is better.

25. According to Carlos, he was zonked to the gills on acid
during their set at Woodstock. He said he had to concentrate really hard to keep the neck of his guitar from turning into a snake. And he still ripped it up!

Is he still alive? Playing in Branson, no doubt....

He and Buck Trent did a great banjo duet album called "Pair of Fives."

of Chicago should be in the discussion. He wowed Hendrix back when they played together. Give Chicago Transit Authority a listen and you'll see what I mean.

20. Flamenco guitarists are the gods of the guitar.
From Paco Delucia to Tomatito, they all blow any jazz or rock guitarist away. Period.

24. Joe Pass is hard to beat
He was a master at the craft without a doubt.

We have a phenomenon here in Tulsa, his name is Tommy Crook and Chet Atkins oce said in an interview he was the best guitar player he knew of. When Chet says something like that, you know the guy's gotta be good! :o

A couple of real guitar aces, love both of them.

Last I knew Tommy Crook was still playing at the Lana Thai restaurant in Tulsa.
