1. Sometimes roasts can take things too far
I remember seeing a William Shatner roast and half the jokes were gay jokes about George Takei (who had recently come out of the closet)

Now, I could understand a few jokes about Takei - it is a roast and it was news when he came out. However, it was like 50-50 Shatner and Takei jokes.

2. I saw that, but I chalked it up to 30+ years of gay jokes that he had saved

3. I haven't seen a roast that didn't have
some cringe worthy moments in them.
