4. mine's good for another year

I have REALLY been hoping they change that gross design before I have to renew. Mine is still the old style.

5. my old one just had the state seals on the pages

and the picture pages on this new one are fairly dark-colored -- Some stamps may not even show well...

6. I renewed mine this June

I agree, a good deal more design elements went into this new one. There are quotes from JFK and MLK Jr, so at least it isn't just right wing patriotism. But I see what you mean, we don't really want to rub our country in when we are traveling, brash, bold American, is not the way I want to be viewed.

7. They've been doing it for a while

I needed some extra pages pasted in my old passport years ago, and each page was full
of quotes, one even from Reagan. I asked what idiot was making us Americans look like
19th century style Chauvinists by inserting this garbage in our passports? But it
happened during the Cheney years. Need I ask further?
