Christina Hendricks wants to play Wonder Woman
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 03:47 PM by NewJeffCT
Now, I love Ms Hendricks and think her sexy. However, don't you need to have a more athletic physique to play Wonder Woman? Sure, Lynda Carter had big boobs, but she was also tall & lean. Adrianne Palicki was also tall & lean for WW in her doomed role last year in David E. Kelly's WW.

1. Lynda Carter had poise, and was not overly self-conscious about her beauty.

5. Wonder Woman
as played by Lynda Carter was more tall, slender & athletic than curvy like Hendricks. Hendricks is pretty tall and damn sexy, but I don't see her as Wonder Woman.

8. She needs to play Miss Kitty to Brad Pitt's Marshall Matt Dillon...
forget the Wonder Woman nonsense. That should go to Charisma Carpenter

11. Carpenter is a bit too old now
she's in her early 40s. And, at 5'7", might be a bit too short.

Hendricks is 5 years younger than Carpenter.

this is Wonder Woman not Wonder Boobs. :)

CH is NOT Wonder Woman material at all. Don't see it. Sorry.

Zooey Deschanel would be fab.

15. I agree that Hendricks should not be WW
maybe Hendricks could play Power Girl if she wanted to play a superheroine...

I love Zooey, but she seems more like a quirky heroine type than Wonder Woman.

Emily dressed as Wonder Woman on a Halloween episode of Bones?

12. Seriously, you remove her breasts I really don't see what the big deal is
She lucked out with one role she's done a decent job with but instead of relying on talent she relies on her breasts.

Mad Men will end soon and she'll fade off into the sunset.

25. I disagree. I think she brings a lot of nuance to the part.
If she couldn't act, I doubt she'd get so many story lines on Mad Men. The character was written to be a little flat two-dimensional um, non-multifaceted, but she's brought a lot of depth to the character, showed off the vulnerable side and the motivations of a woman making tough career & family choices in the 60s.

I don't "buy" every character on that show--Roger is a pretty uneven character and Ken Cosgrove is just boring (the actor is clearly not up to the part). But Christina Hendricks really does let you see what's going on in Joan's head. The character is quite well-rounded complex and fascinating.

for her role on Mad Man. Before that, she was best known for having a recurring role on the now defunct show Firefly.

20. With the right director, I think she could pull it off.
This video of clips from Firefly shows her in a different role from the Mad Men character. Warning, brief shot of Nathan Fillion's butt near the end.

27. Agreed. I love her too, but she ain't right for the part.
I don't see Joan Holloway doing this effectively. Frankly, Adrian Palicky looks kind of absurd here, too.

I think, as far as costuming goes, the producers need to do a lot of rethinking. Wonder Woman should be able to defeat her enemies by fighting them, not by giving them simultaneous heart-attacks and whiplash as she runs past.

Only one woman could have done the part right: Lucy Lawless.

28. The David E. Kelley Wonder Woman
was not picked up after the pilot got panned. I didn't have a huge problem with the costume - if it was too big a change from Lynda Carter, it would have gotten panned for being too different (the only difference I see is bare legs on Carter and tights on Palicki)

I think Lawless could have done it back in her Xena heyday, but is likely too old for a movie franchise now.

31. Interesting
I posted about Mariano Rivera breaking the all-time saves records two days ago. I got 3 responses and 74 views, despite it being a fantastic sporting achievement.

I posted about Christina Hendricks and Wonder Woman 5 minutes later, and it has 30 responses and over 600 views.

The lesson from this? Boobies > Baseball
