You just can't make this shit up
We are going to run in our Business Bits column a story about a dentist who came to town and opened a new practice.

The building he chose formerly housed an ice cream parlor.

1. Near me there's "Coffin Outlet" across from a cemetery.
In another part of town there's a retirement village near a funeral home.

And a "You are entering a bird sanctuary" sign next to a KFC.

4. It was more of a display pond. Here are links...
...and I'm unhappy to find that it was sold out to a noodle chain, then went out of business. Haven't been in that part of town in years...

" I had worked for Pacific Telephone on Van Nuys Blvd. in the early 70s and remember when the building was Blue Haven Pools. That's why the pond is there, because it was the showroom. When it converted to Lana Thai my coworkers and I frequently came for lunch. We never had a gripe.

After I was reassigned to another area of Los Angeles, my wife and I often came from Westwood for dinner, which never disappointed. Ocassionally, we included our children or friends. The last time we visited was 2009 and I think it was still Lanna Thai. Yet, the food and service was still excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We became nostalgic and came to the restaurant September 2, 2011 and found it was now Noodle World. There was no place to park, so we headed back over the hill. Despite the negative reviews for Noodle World, we'll give it a chance in a couple of weeks. I hope it meets our expectations like Lanna Thai did."

6. Is ice cream bad for your teeth or something?
If it was a soda shop or candy shop then I could see the irony,

7. It's full of sugar, for one thing
It's kinda like down in Fayettenam, there's a group of heart surgeons who bought a building that USED to be a buffet, which featured typical Southern (basically, think of what Paula Deen would make if you told her she needs to stop scrimping on the butter) dishes and not much else.

8. In my city
we have a doctor's office that is in a building that is connected to the funeral home next to it. One long building - half doctor's office, half funeral home.

11. Not quite
that bad. But, this is something I noticed when I was a child. We drove by this building when I was about ten years old and I asked my parents if they had ever noticed that this doctor's office was connected to this funeral home. I asked who would ever want to go to that doctor. Even at that young age, I thought it was a little strange.
