buying quarters to do laundry? .... question
So, let's say I need to buy like $5.00 of quarters. Can I go to a bank where I do not have an account and buy quarters from them using my credit card? after all, it is a BANK, but do they sell money. I should be able to do that, right?

1. No. They wouldn't want to pay the % on your card.
You could just withdraw from your account of course and request it in quarters.

2. You can also just go to your local grocery store at the Customer Service
desk. I get rolls of quarters from my Kroger all the time. Doesn't cost me anything, whether by cash or debit :)

3. They will not give you cash off your credit card
If you took in $5 bill and asked for quarters they may do that.

4. As others have posted ...

... you may need to pay cash. Also you might need to get $10 worth, as that is "a roll" of quarters.

5. Not for $5.
Any bank will run a cash advance for you off a credit card and disperse that cash to you in the increment of your choice. SunTrust where I used to work will not run a cash advance for less than $25.

Also know that while there is no fee often for the advancing bank, the issuing bank can and often does charge you for this service in addition to the cash-advance interest rate which is usually the lower of {5% higher than the base interest rate on your card or equal to the penalty-rate on the card.}

Also, quarters come in rolls of $10, not $5. You can get $5 in quarters but your teller will hate you.

7. At my local car wash, there is an ATM
that you can put a $5 bill into and get $5 in quarters. Or you can use your debt card for $5 and get $5 in quarters. It cost that much to wash the car.

Not sure.
