Well, summer seems to be in its death throes since I woke up this morning
I know that when I can see my breath and even the air smells better then Fall is pretty much here

So long to this miserable summer! At least until next week ( back in the 80s ) but not terrible

...in another few days.

I live on the bank of a river (recently moved to this place) and have the watched the water level with great interest. Lower and lower and lower it went; sand bar exposed, many fish jumping in the lee of a little island where there's a bay. Last night there was a sprinkle of rain -- first in a month -- and today the sand bar is still there, but covered with sea gulls instead of Canada geese. The border collie and I are having a great time river watching. A big tour ship goes up/down river twice a night, decorated with strings of lights.
