Dunlop Rockman Bass Ace. Anyone have experience?
For $65 I can't complain...I need a "personal bass amp" so I can practice while at work, on lunch hours.

I am lovin' my bass.

Any opinions on this?

1. Well, a quick Google turned up JIM Dunlop.
And if that's the same guy who invented gauged finger and flat picks, I would trust anything that he puts his name on. 'Course, if you wanna grow up to be a srsly hardcore bass player, get you an Ampeg tube amp with at least one 15-inch speaker (JBL or Electro-Voice), 100 watts minimum. If you can find a great deal on an Acoustic brand solid-state model, go for it.

Meanwhile, remember: anything that sounds good to your ears is a good amp!

:smoke:

And the Rockman has been around for a long time. Enjoy!

4. Vox amplug
These are really cool, very small and they plug straight into the jack. I've got the "AC 30" version for guitar and I love it

5. Haven't used one, but off the bat, I'd suggest getting some decent headphones for it.

In-ear, or the kind supplied with the Rockman, don't look like they'd cut it.

If you want to hear the fundamental of the note, and not just its overtones, you need phones with bigger drivers. I'd probably go with an over-the-ear design too.

6. The Rockman products were invented by
Tom Scholz (best known as the leader/lead guitarist of Boston). He recorded the first Boston album in his basement largely with gear he designed himself. IIRC, he was an MIT-trained engineer and was working for Polaroid at the time.

The stuff had a real vogue in the 1980s as rack-mount gear, mostly for guitarists, and had a rep for being reliable, good sounding and solidly built. Sounds like ya gotta deal there!

And yes, Ampeg tube amps sound good, but if you're gonna play live, the serious ones weigh as much as a refrigerator when the speaker cabinets are included in the package. Which is pretty much the case with ANY big valve amp. Roadies or accepting the fact that you will be wearing a truss are pretty much the range of options for moving them. I am more of a Gallien-Krueger/GenzBenz/ Bergantino guy myself. At least I would be if I had the cash. :)
