food for thought next time you eat food with red dye.....
There are crushed bugs in your food.
Carmine, a vibrant red food colorant, is actually the crushed abdomen of the female Dactylopius coccus, a beetle-like African insect. Not only is the thought of eating bug juice gross, but it also poses an ethical issue for some vegetarians and vegans. Look for it in red-colored candies and juices.

3. better than petroleum-based dye
of course good food rarely needs that kind of enhancement anyway so folks eating "food" that needs color enhancement probably don't care all that much about its production.

4. If most people knew how many bug parts (and worse) are allowed in
foods that they eat everyday, they might get really upset. Sometimes ignorance really can be bliss.

12. Probably happens because V8 isn't made in a lab.
It has ACTUAL vegetables grown in the ground, pulverized (along with the bugs that got caught in the plants at harvest), and made into juice.
BTW, this is the answer to a Trivial Pursuit question I still remember from 20 years ago.
Keep drinking it, Granny. It's good for ya!

6. You might enjoy this Cracked article
"5 Horrifying Food Additives You've Probably Eaten Today", Carmine is #3 and they also note that companies also call it: Crimson Lake, Cochineal, Natural Red 4, C.I. 75470 or E120, so watch out for those as well.

9. Cool by me
the only parts of eating bug that I dont care for are the crunch and the squish. Otherwise, eating bugs is A1 in my book.

13. Just so you know, Catsup is the last thing they make at a tomato cannery.
I spent a summer working at one. You would not believe what is left on the conveyor belt by the time it gets to the catsup section.
