Anyone going to see Contagion this weekend?
The trailer makes it look like this generation's "Towering Inferno" or "Earthquake" by placing a bunch of famous stars in a disaster movie. But the critics all seem to love it, so I'm intrigued. I'll propbably go see it either tonight or later this weekend.

Anyone else going?

3.  I remember Outbreak came out a few years back. Similar theme. Didn't see it.
Actually with Soderbergh directing, Contagion could be awesome. The man has a terrific cinematic mind. For fun, I just looked up Mark Robson, the director of Earthquake. Wow, his credits are great. Sadly, Earthquake is pretty dated. I admit, I saw it in the theatre as a kid... in Sensurround.
Anyone remember Sensurround?

6. Outbreak is a fun little movie
And as I recall, that had an all-star cast too: Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, JT Walsh, Kevin Spacey, Rene Russo, and Cuba Gooding Jr (before he became a farce).

There's also a great book called "The Hot Zone" a non-fiction thriller about an ebola outbreak in Virginia.

9. I remember Outbreak.
I think about it every time I see a promo for Contagion.

I remember the all-star cast as well. I saw Outbreak, and did not think it lived up to the hype.

7. Is that the one with Dustin Hoffman and a monkey?
I never dreamed I'd ever type that sentence.

4. I try to avoid anything that includes Gwenyth Paltrow.
Although I've heard she dies early in the film,
which may have some cathartic value for me.

5. I'll be sitting in the shelter, enjoying a smoke...
... while my lovely family prepares dinner.

Don't bother stopping by to visit. I've welded the blast doors shut.

10. How nice that even in a the midst of nuclear war,
They're still taking the time to set the table. And the Mrs. is still wearing an apron, so as not to get her dress dirty.

12. I've read that tattered old Forbes magazine at least a hundred times...
... but that's not tobacco in my pipe, so it's all good.

17. I originally heard it had a great script
but, then I heard that World War Z was dumping the whole UN historical look back at World War Z angle from the book and making Pitt's character a UN worker who tries to stop the zombie plague as it unfolds.

So, I'm a bit leery.
