1. They won more games than the other teams in their division
But that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

3. Justin Verlander has something to do with that
great pitcher having his best season (so far)

And, Miguel Cabrera is having a great year, too.

13. My seriously true belief is the rapture is real and will happen...
2 outs before the Cubs win the World Series

I suspect we'll be ok for a long time!

7. Probably a fluke.
They're great at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when the pressure is on. They'll most likely blow it in the final weeks.

OTOH, maybe something weird is in the ether in Detroit, even the Lions have been winning in the pre-season. Whether or not that continues, remains to be seen.

8. A word of caution...the year the Lions went 0-16 they went 4-0 in the preseason.
My son (the last remaining diehard Lions fan) was hoping they would lose one.

Go Pack Go!

12. Justin Verlander
(the most dominating pitcher in the AL) and just enough hitting and pitching behind him.

It's a lousy division, and the Tigers are just good enough to grab and hold first place. Which is easier when you have a starter so overpowering he will only lose a half-dozen games a year and prevent lengthy losing streaks.

How I wish the Twins had a guy like Verlander. Sigh...

I saw them play Boston about 8 years ago and they got slaughtered by the 4th inning.
