Hello all.

My nephew's 3 day old daughter is in critical condition in ICU. The placenta ruptured, and the baby lost a lot of blood, so they did a c-section. There is no brain or kidney activity now and the doctors are meeting with the family today to decide what to do. I think we all know what is coming, but anything you can send the family's way would be much appreciated. ♥

30. UPDATE

Spoke with my sister. Everyone is waiting on my nephew and his girlfriend to decide about a DNR order.

The doctors said that the brain stem will heal and the baby will be left with whatever level of damage occurred when the rupture happened - which they feel will be substantial. Her kidney's do not function on their own and she has only opened her eyes briefly once (when she was born.)

My sister is planning to talk to them later today if they haven't made a decision. I honestly think part of the difficulty they may be having is that she is truly a beautiful baby. To look at her pictures you would never know how ill she is. I cannot imagine how horrible this is for them.

Thanks to all of you who took a moment to read this thread, and send energy and love to my nephew and his baby.

They took her off the respirator, and she passed away earlier today.
