Eric Burdon and The Animals - When I Was Young
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur30bn_3G58

The rooms were so much colder then
My father was a soldier then
And times were very hard
When I was young

I smoked my first cigarette at ten
And for girls, I had a bad yen
And I had quite a ball
When I was young

When I was young, it was more important
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

I met my first love at thirteen
She was brown and I was pretty green
And I learned quite a lot when I was young
When I was young

When I was young, IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

My faith was so much stronger then
I believed in fellow men
And I was so much older then
When I was young
When I was young
When I was young

1. Eric Burdon Band, "Sun Secrets"...
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 10:54 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
...he had a young Hendrix-influenced player named Aalon, and the band tore through long, intense covers of The Animals' "When I Was Young," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," and "It's My Life."

They did a second album, "Stop," which I didn't like as much, because the songs were all under the 4 minute mark, except for the title track, which clocked in at 6.

Both albums were released on a single 2-for-1 CD. VERY highly recommended.

There's also a bootleg CD out there of this particular band in concert. Sound is "just OK." Performance smokes.

4. I'm a huge Eric Burdon fan, and this is one of his greatest

He was probably my biggest influence when I was first starting to sing... He's not always technically perfect, but so very very soulful.
