Someone stole my catalytic converter.
They got the muffler, too.

1. Where were you parked and how long?
That's scary! Do they just take a minute to get it somehow, or is it at night and they do it under cover of dark, or?

2. I was at the local Target. (Yeah, I shop at Target.)
They used a power saw- it took moments.

When my beast is back from the shop I'll go see how long they store their security tapes. Then I'll file a police report and try to get them to pay.

3. If you can't drive back now, call the store manager ASAP.
Who knows how long they save those tapes? :scared:

4. How dreadful, my dear PN6!
And I know how difficult it is for you to get out at all...

I hope that you'll get compensated for your loss, sweetie...

Why would anyone do such a thing?

8. it isn't only "possible," it's an industry
catalytic converters contain platinum, checked the price of gold lately, well platinum is worth more than that

7. yeah and they sold it for the metal to the recycler for all of $50
Edited on Fri Sep-02-11 10:21 PM by pitohui
i don't think metals recyclers or auto junkyards should even be allowed to buy and sell catalytic converters, it's getting ridiculous

the world would be a better place if every metal thief was executed on the spot, they destroy infrastructure and what's esp. burdensome is that they return again and again to the same place until they're stopped because what you get for scrap metal, even platinum, is pathetic compared to the cost of their drug addiction
