can someone help me with a powerpoint question
you know how when presenting powerpoint slides you have two options, one where the entire slide is immediately available to the viewer. the other, where viewers see one bulletpoint/caption at a time.

can someone tell me how to do that (create a slide, where i can show it one bullet at a time?)

2. First, prepare your slide with all the bullet points.
Then, in the toolbar - there should be a "Slide Show" selection.

Go to Slide Show > Custom Animation.

Select each bullet point and choose the animation you want (how and when the line should appear, that is, swooping in, just appearing, etc.). Go easy on the animation effects because they drive people nuts if you get too fancy.

You can also add sound effects.

4. I read that as a 'powder point' question.
I was thinking 'flour or baking soda?'

:silly:

5. Do not use the sound effects!
Animation is great for dialing up the visual interest in the slides. The sound effects undercut the interest and can make your presentation repeatedly silly.

6. I agree. The sound effects, especially if used repeatedly,
tend to prove to the audience that the maker of the presentation is new to powerpoint. The novelty of the sound effects wears off very quickly, unfortunately.

9. I teach my students to use the animations sparingly and the sounds not at all.

10. The only animations I ever use is occasionally to make text or a pic appear
on a mouse click, for emphasis. A lot of those available animations just make people dizzy; they are more distracting than useful.

13. Yes! Also, remember that some of the more complicated entrances and exits
can move very s l o w l y when the presentation is actually presented.

And, too many of them can be a huge hassle if you want to go back to earlier slides for more discussion...

8. I personally never thought it was difficult...
The trick is to pick a day and set aside a few hours to play with it. I recommend also utilizing free online resources to learn the "tricks".

A good blog post to start with: http://www.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/5-must-know-powerpoint-tips-that-will-save-you-time/

11. No harder than Word, really.
You just have to play around with it for awhile.

12. you don't even need the animation function
Just make a slide with one bullet point:

☻ you know how when presenting powerpoint slides you have two options,

The next slide has two points, the first one from the previous slide and the next one:

☻ you know how when presenting powerpoint slides you have two options,
☻ one where the entire slide is immediately available to the viewer.

The third slide has the previous two points plus the third:

☻ you know how when presenting powerpoint slides you have two options,
☻ one where the entire slide is immediately available to the viewer.
☻ the other, where viewers see one bulletpoint/caption at a time.

The fourth slide:

☻ you know how when presenting powerpoint slides you have two options,
☻ one where the entire slide is immediately available to the viewer.
☻ the other, where viewers see one bulletpoint/caption at a time.
☻ can someone tell me how to do that (create a slide,

And so on... When viewed in sequence it creates the illusion of successive bullet points appearing.
