The Hangar 1 Vodka blimp blew away Sunday morning around 12:05 a.m. during a strong wind storm. The blimp was moored at Don Scott Airfield when it broke free and drifted into the air in an eastward direction from the field, according to OSP troppers.
Several state and federal agencies assisted in the search for the blimp.
The FAA and the Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration were notified once the blimp was reported missing and were also assisting in the search.
The blimp is white with a blue stripe and says 'Hangar 1 Vodka' writen on the sides. Its tail number is N618LG. The blimp is a Spector 19, Model A-60+, which is approximately 128 feet in length and has a volume of 1900 cubic meters.
Investigators say it was damaged when the winds tore it free.
