You'll be begging for a prostate exam instead. :P And don't even get me started on the annual boob-flattening experience.

Seriously, though--good boy you. My uncle died from prostate cancer; it's nothing to mess around with.

Don't remember a thing about it, except the drugs were great! The prelude, drinking all that stuff and crapping like the space shuttle taking off, well, yeah, I remember that! But the drugs were great! I'd do it again in about five years!

Try getting a uterine biopsy sometime. It's like having Satan crawl up your hoo-hah with a pitchfork! And don't assume women don't have their "pooper" checked too. Ob/Gyns check all local orifices looking for anomalies.

But good on you for setting aside your squeamishness and getting this exam! The lady (or gent if the case may be) in your life will appreciate having you around for awhile longer!

My butt is not *that* bad and in fact has gotten compliments in more social situations.


But, seriesly, I thought the drill was, PSAs yearly until the DRE was due/covered. I googled the Medicare/frequency, and it seems yearly is the way it's supposed to be. Hmmmm. Is my doctor grossed out?!1


Doctors come in all human varieties, too, some are SHY about the body!1 One East Asian doc went to pieces with nerves telling me he needed to do a (my word: ) marbles exam, and that if I agreed, I needed to sign a release and a female nurse would be in the room as a witness while he handled my marbles. The poor dude worked himself up into a frenzy. It was no problem for me. The nurse was behind me at the door, I dropped the shorts and the shirttail overed my beautiful butt.

One old, experienced doc had NO problem at all, no release, no nurse. He just went in there and played the marbles clinically and that was that.
