CNN London - Eccentric and charismatic Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport this morning during a routine customs check that revealed one of his suitcases was filled with "love."
Ferry, well known for his 1975 hit with Roxy Music, "Love Is The Drug." In 1976, based upon the lyrics of that song, British Parliament cited The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, calling for "love" to henceforth be recognized as a Class 1 Narcotic.
Ferry appeared to be in jovial spirits until customs officials opened his suitcase and discovered the "love" inside. According to Airport Security Supervisor Harry "Snapper" Organs, "I immediately exclaimed 'What's all this, then?', to which Mr. Ferry replied 'It's only love.' I took that as an official admission of guilt and immediately placed Mr. Ferry under arrest. He is currently out on bail and his trial will be held on August 15th. It is my sincere wish that this will serve as a stern warning to other British 'pop' stars who think that they can thumb their noses at the law and get away with it."
Yoko Ono, widow of the late Beatle John Lennon, author of the classic song "All You Need Is Love," was not immediately available for comment.
