Do you eat your meals in the dining room?
At the kitchen table?

In front of the TV?

Outside?

In a restaurant?

The car?

Where are you dining, America?

1. We have a tiny dining room off the kitchen, where we eat.

6. Sounds like my house.
The dining room is off the kitchen and adjacent to the living room. It may sound odd, but we use it and we use it for most meals.

It is the exception when we eat in front of a TV. Meal time in our household is the one time we are all in one room and actually having a conversation rather than just "talking" to each other. It was that way in my house when I was growing up and I have fought to preserve that in my own family.

4. In front of the TV
Unless I can convince the family to go out.

We have a dining room between the kitchen and the living room (and where the back staircase is), but apparently it's not for dining. Instead, the table seems to be a "flat surface upon which flotsam and jetsam gets deposited". I clear it off periodically, but it has some magical magnetism that draws just about everything to it, not just metallic items. Sigh.

5. We have a breakfast room off the kitchen.
We eat our meals there unless we have company. Then we use the dining room.

(oh ok.. none in the john, either)

All other meals are usually eating walking from one place to another.

8. We eat almost all our meals in the dining room.
There's no TV in there, but we frequently read at the table.

15. If I actually take the time to cook,
as opposed to just making a sandwich or salad, then I will sit at the table either in the kitchen or out on the deck. Otherwise I just eat in front of the TV or at the computer or wherever.

16. In my Dad's little office, in front of "Jeopardy"
My SO and I carry dinner up to my 87-yo immobile dad on trays, and watch Jeopardy and sometimes Wheel of Fortune.

Our favorite place to eat is out on our deck in nice weather, but he can't come down there anymore, so we go up to him.

20. The dining room is where I'm keeping stuff that I don't know what else
to do with, for now.

So I eat in front of the TV while fending off cats who want my ham sandwich.

21. In the summer, on the screened-in porch. In the winter, in the dining room
We have a really large, lovely screened-in porch but IL in the summer can be funny. If it's too damned hot, I insist on eating inside. This year it's been great and we're out on the porch daily - we have power so the laptop is out there and music. No teevees anywhere thank gawd.

We all sit down and eat together in an old fashioned way. Everyone pitches in to get dinner finished and on the table and then they pitch in and clean up. It's one of the perks of being a farmer - its easy to coordinate eating together, even if it's at 4:30 to accommodate school activities, lessons, or whatever.
