Pins in my toes...
Has anybody else here ever gone through the hell of hammertoe surgery? I went through it three weeks ago with three pins on my right foot. I've been indoors since then, wearing a surgical shoe. I have three more weeks to go and yesterday one of the pins came out halfway. I went to the ER and was told I'd have to wait until Monday. Now I have a throbbing middle toe with a huge dressing on it and I'm limping around the house. Depressing! Has anybody else here been through this holy hell?

1. I recently went through foot surgery.
The surgeon actually broke my foot and put screws in it to hold the bone in place while it healed.

The screws started coming out and were almost breaking through the skin. It was creepy and painful! He removed the screws a month ago.

You have my sympathies...starting in 2001, I've had a broken foot (fell down the steps) and FIVE foot surgeries!

It is damn depressing being stuck in the house when the weather is nice. PM me if you get too stir crazy. I've been there...

:)

2. Side issue here, but in general post surgical support seems to be pretty bad!
We ran into problems after my husband had surgery. Who knew the incredible swelling properties of the human body!

I'd love to see some sort of Visiting Nurse arrangement to follow up and answer questions once patients are sent home to recuperate.

3. They do not care about helping or healing you.

It is all about making a buck. It is all about the money. Edit to add. I hope you do feel better soon. Sorry for your pain.

4. Uhhhh
You could go hammer that surgeon's toes and ask him or her how s/he feels about it.
