The Beagle is family!
Our family dog, Betty, is a Beagle. She has a large saussage like body, and a pin-like head that portrudes from said saussage. She is actually a rescue dog, as in she was rescued off the streets of Taipei where she had a broken leg by a Taiwanese Dog Lover, nursed back to health and had a pin set in her leg. Her rescuer in Taiwan had a bunch of dogs and cats that were rescued, however, so Betty needed a new home. After our family finding her on PetFinder - she was shipped to us and we met her at SFO.

Since moving in, she's become one of the family. We had some issues at first - in that we let her on the furniture, and she took that as an "I must be equal with mom and dad!" and then started trying to intimidate the kids. Once we got her off the couch, however, she settled into her place at the bottom (trust me, its not a BAD thing.)

Enjoy your dog - it's a cross-species friendship that's rewarding in many ways.

1. May you have many happy years together.
Children learn a lot by having a friend from another species. I know mine did.
