**June 17th MFM Update...and beyond!**
I just had a very hopeful and uplifting phone conversation with MFM!

He sounds really really good, lucid, healthy!

He is still a little tight across his chest (from the surgery to stabilize his sternum) but his doctors tell him that this will loosen up with time.

He hopes to be going back to the convalescent hospital maybe tomorrow! There he will have internet access. He told me he can't lift the laptop since it's too heavy for him now...I told him I understood. Perhaps he might be able to use it in the convalescent hospital where there might be more help.

He wanted me to tell all of you that he has truly felt the vibes, esp. during some low points! And he misses all of us very much...

Keep those vibes coming!

:hi:

3. I am hoping the best for him...
his journey has reminded me of when my mother had surgery to replace a heart valve, she went home then a couple of weeks later had to go right back in and get it replaced (and with all kinds of complications). When I saw her the 2nd time, she was so down about the whole thing because it was not going according to how she'd mapped it all out (that's what nurses do, they tend to be planners!). My sister and I took turns spending time w/her, taking care of my father and household things. Anyway, I thought of that wrt MFM and how the journey to healing isn't always so nice and neat, but how much time I enjoyed spending w/Mom and that I'll never get that time back again (she's gone now). I hope that MFM won't be too discouraged for long, things won't always be this way and six months or a year from now it'll all be a distant memory.

4. My dear Dappleganger...
He's really feeling pretty good. The actual valve has not malfunctioned at all. And that's the really important thing.

The rest of the difficulties are peripheral issues, and time (and good medical and nursing care) will take care of those.

He is really not discouraged, except late at night when he's tired and sore. He realizes that this will pass, and he'll get well.

Thanks for your good thoughts!

5. Let him know I haven't forgotten about his crushed velvet heart pillow.
I actually just got started on that, The sewing room was unexpectedly occupied by my son for awhile. He came up on a hard spot.

He just turned 21 but he's been out of the house since 18. It was fun to nurture and feed him for awhile again though.

But he's out now and I've started on the pillow!

8. So good to hear he's improving day by day.
What a long, strange trip it's been. It'll be good to have him home.

9. That's really great news!
Hopefully, there will be some help with moving the laptop around---especially since y'all went through all that effort to get it to him. And, reconnecting will certainly help his recuperation efforts, I think.

11. And yet, the great unanswered question...IS HE WEARING PANTS?
Seriously, CP, while I do appreciate these ongoing updates, I'd appreciate them a lot more if you'd include some of the critical information concerned DUers need to know.

Here, let me save you the trouble:

:spank:

:toast:

Seems like Pacalo and I are the only ones kicking my "I want to create a..." thread, but I will do it, at least until I know he's seen it. There's too much effort in there to let it sink like a rock.

:-)

12. GAH!
I forgot to ask him about the pants!

Hopefully he will soon be online, and you can ask him yourself!

14. The "I want to" thread is going to be special to MFM. PLEASE help keep it alive.
We lost a wonderful DUer recently & I've seen lots of comments expressing hope that she realized how special she was to us.

MFM had three heart surgeries -- we could have lost him.

So, again, please help keep the "I want to" thread on the front page. I'd like MFM to see as many DUers' names as possible checking into the thread.

recovery.

Thanks for the good news, Peggy!
