8. Not quiet as old, but do you know that White Snake song that starts out slow and turns fast?
Something about "here I come again" or whatever. Anyway, it starts like a slow dance. From the time they started playing that (mid 80's), my wife and I would always slow dance to it - even after it turned fast. The beat is still fine for a slow dance pace. Now you pretty much have to find a classic rock band to even GET to slow dance. The clubs just play that techno-crap and/or rap shit - nothing slow, and nothing worth fast dancing to. Just shit.

15. No, this is...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGIHaKCeVYk&feature=fvwrel

There's a minute and twenty seconds of solid slow dance material and if you just keep it up, it works fine for the rest of the song.

9. Precious and Few by Climax
It was "Our Song" and I thought I was touching heaven when he held me close to dance to it...

Precious and Few

Precious and few are the moments we two can share.
Quiet and blue, like the sky, I'm hung over you.
And if I can't find my way back home, it just wouldn't be fair.
Precious and few are the moments we two can share.

Baby, it's you on my mind, your love is so rare.
Being with you is a feeling I just can't compare.
And if I can't hold you in my arms, it just wouldn't be fair.
Cause' Precious and few are the moments we two can share.

And if I can't find my way back home it just wouldn't be fair
Cause' Precious and few are the moments we two can share.

Precious and few are the moments we two can share.
Quiet and blue, like the sky, I'm hung over you.
And if I can't find my way back home, it just wouldn't be fair.
Cause' Precious and few are the moments we two can share.

On a footnote, I have not seen him since 1983 when he told me nobody would ever love me like he did, then put me upside a wall. My feelings about him may have changed significantly, but this song is on the short list of my favorite love songs.

42. That song makes me homicidal.
I really hate that song.

When I was young, I worked as a waitress in
a restaurant with a jukebox that contained
that song, which happened to be the song that
played when one of my co-workers "fell in love".

She played that song, which I already hated, over
and over and over and over and over..you get the idea.

Even today, when I hear those first notes:

BUM bum bum BUM bum bum BUM bum bum BUM bum bum

I want to :puke:

83. Beautiful song...here's the original version by the guy that wrote it, Jack Tempchin
with the Funky Kings. Shared some, um....herbal "refreshments" with him and a couple of the other Kings when this record had come out but Johnny Rivers' version hadn't hit the charts yet (or maybe even been recorded yet?). I was the only one of the locals in the van who'd heard the album so he asked me if anything stood out as a potential hit single and I couldn't come up with anything . Not long afterward, Johnny Rivers had a huge hit with Slow Dancing. I like to think I have a pretty astute ear, but really missed it with this one. Tempchin also wrote Already Gone, and Peaceful Easy Feeling.

71. Love theme from "Picnic"
Edited on Sun Jun-19-11 04:43 AM by Petrushka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNxtxfuZD6M&feature=related

On a picnic morning,
Without a warning,
I looked at you,
And somehow I knew . . .

It must have been Moonglow,
Way up in the blue,
It must have been Moonglow,
That led me straight to you . . .

I still hear you sayin'
Dear heart hold me fast,
And I start in prayin'
Oh Lord, please let this last,
We . . . seem to float right through the air,
Heavenly songs seem to come from everywhere,
An' now when there's Moonglow,
Way up in the blue,
I always remember,
That Moonglow gave me you . . .

You and I in the sunshine,
We strolled the fields and far,
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere,
And now when there's Moonglow
Way up in the blue,
I always remember,
That Moonglow gave me you,
That Moonglow gave me you,
That Moonglow gave me you . . .

~ from the 1956 film "Picnic"
Words and Music by Will Hudson, Eddie DeLange, and Irving Mills 1934, 1956
Theme from "Picnic" Words by Steve Allen and Music by George Duning 1956

78. Oh God I hated that song - it was too long!
And some short guy I wasn't interested in always asked me to dance it, God bless them. And I was too nice to say "no", so it seems like every HS dance ended with me towering over somebody. \

I'm guessing you're pushing 50, DK?

79. "just once" by James Ingram reminds me how dumb I used to be
I always ended up dancing to this with the idiot I was chasing my first two years of college. And getting all romantic and stupid. And usually going back to his room with him. ARgggh.
