I had to put my cat to sleep today
She was my sweetie girl for 13 years. 18 years old. I got her from my cousin, she came with me because she liked me the most.

I'll miss her voice.

7. She was a smart, good girl
I'll miss her voice and talking to her, if that doesn't sound to weird. She always talked back.

2. Oh, Confusious, I'm sorry.
I lost my beloved Tommycat over two years ago, and I still really miss him (even though I have six other sweet felines to keep me company).

I'm sorry for your loss; sounds like your sweetie girl was much loved.

8. Oh, I am so very sad for your loss
it is a great one, and one that I think too many of us know.

"Sweetie girl" - I love that. Peaceful passing to her, and I hope for peace in your heart as well. It will hurt, but in time. . .

17. Ashes. Yes.
I have a whole curio cabinet filled with those containers - I just can't see not having them with me. My kids say that when they plant ME, when I drift off of this mortal coil, that they'll put in (well, I believe their term was "toss") all of those urns, containers, boxes. It kinda comforts me, knowing that my pets' remains will remain close to me. It's only right.

Peace to you. It will hurt badly. But she understands, surely, and appreciates your care.

credit for being as loving and intelligent as they are. What wonderful friendship you must have had with frisky for her to come to the door when you came home. She will always be your friend. I saved a poem posted awhile ago by curtiseastpoint whose vet gave it to him when he lost his furry friend.

Be thankful for our wonderful years.

When I am gone release me and let me go.
I have too many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears.

I gave to you my love, you can only guess . . .
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you have shown,
but now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part,
so bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me call, and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear.
All my love around you soft and clear.

And then when you must pass this way alone,
I'll greet you with a purr and say "Welcome Home!"

Our babies rely on us to take care of them, and that includes when their lives are no longer fun or worth living...

She is at peace now...

14 years!! My goodness, and I know it hurts, I have loved some bunnies in my life waaaaay beyond what folks thought they were worth.

It's never about "worth".

I wish you peace.

19. Hang in there
Hi,
I'm sorry for your loss, you should post a picture of her for us. I know I will miss my Sophie greeting me every night when I get home from work with her tail pointed straight up and meowing when her time is up. I won't miss her waking me up ten minutes before my alarm goes off no matter what though. I still miss the three cats I have had in my life, they all lived long lives, but are such an important part of our lives you can't help but miss them.

Take your time and let the grieving process run its course.

Peace

Edited on Sun Jun-12-11 05:54 PM by Confusious

I didn't realize until i saw this pic that she lost so much weight from kidney failure. She was just skin and bones at the end, but still trying to do her job. I kept hoping she would get better, but it wasn't going to happen. my denial.

They ask so little and they give so much. I know how much it sucks to lose a friend like that. Been there before, will be there again - the pain of loss is the price we pay for their love. It's worth it, because their company is just that good. I pray that you will reach that place where the memories bring more joy than sorrow very soon.

33. Sorry to hear that, Confusious...I've been there twice.
Back in 2001 I lost both cats I had at the time to age-related illnesses. Both were 15, and I had to have them put to sleep about a month apart from each other.

First cat, I loved. She was a sweetheart.

But the second one? He was Tonto to my Lone Ranger. It was the ultimate bonding with a pet. As I mentioned earlier tonight in a separate thread, the cat I got in 2001 after I lost the other two is wonderful in her own way, but aloof, and the bonding thing is there in a very distant way (she's very affectionate when she wants something).

The other two cats used to walk up to me on the bed and lick my nose. This cat doesn't. I guess that's the thing I miss most, among many, many other things.

Cherish the memories...she probably considered you to be her sweetie too.
