Any Gamers here?
So.. I have dabbled at PC gaming. My wife is a Console gamer, currently with a PS3. Neither of us is any good in the other form. Are there any multiplayer games that we can play together?

1. last year
Microsoft decided to experiment. Their goal was to open up the XBox Live servers so that PC gamers and console gamers could frag each other to their hearts' content. Also, to settle the argument over who's better, of course.

So, the experiment. They took some average PC gamers and put them up against the best of the console gamers. PC won handily. There's no beating mouse and keyboard in a FPS.

My suggestion is to find a game on the console that you can play. If you're anything like me, FPS is right out. But there are some good action games that allow for multiple players.

Another problem you'll run into is the design. Companies love it when you play multiplayer, but only if it's using the servers and multiple consoles. That way, you've paid for more consoles and more copies of the game. So fewer and fewer games have multiplayer in the same room.

Two games that are being given away for the PS3 right now that have fun multiplayer are Dead Nation and Little Big Planet.

DN is a classic top down zombie killer. My daughter and her boyfriend played it all day today, and had a blast. And she's not much of a gamer at all (although she'll smoke anyone at Dance Dance Revolution). Little Big Planet we've been playing for a long time. It's a sort of 3D side scroller through all sorts of hilarious levels. You end up doing levels over and over to finish them once you get items from later levels. It may have the best replay value of a game I've seen in a long time. There are even sections that require two players to finish the level properly.

Since they're free, I'd give them a try.

11. I had read about that
I did a google search before posting, the Xbox thing was mentioned, but other than that and portal 2 where you can apparently mix platforms, I couldnt really find any satisfactory answers.

I suck at FPS even on a PC. take me to a console, and it goes extraordinarily poorly.

Ive tried a variety of console games. The kart games just frustrate me, I always end up crosswired and watching the wrong section of the screen. And even when I can keep it straight, I am invariably last. FPS, as I mentioned, are not a happy experience unless you give me unlimited ammo and life. And I can usually manage to screw it up even then. Even simpler things like the Lego games are long suckfests where I more often kill my partners than the enemy.

How do you get LBP for free? Ive heard it is a good game.

I would think that the cross platform would be a good deal for design. Linking a PS3 and a PC would seem to be much easier if there was a server to mediate. And of necessity, you would have to have two copies of a game to play on PC and PS3 at the same time.

14. iirc
you go into the PSN store. My daughter's the one who did it, as I let her pick the games. Look for the Welcome Back package.

One question: What PC games do you enjoy playing? That would help determine what console games you enjoy. And the reverse would be helpful, what does your partner enjoy on the console?

2. My friend and I used to play Warcraft together...
It was great working together, choosing different professions to boost us both and running dungeons for better gear.

5. I would HIGHLY recommend Portal 2.
It has both individual and cooperative modes, and it is just an absolutely fantastic little game.

Portal 2 is a great game. Great writing, entertaining, challenging. I think you would both probably love it, especially if you enjoy using your mind as well as your reflexes.

12. No, sorry
They are games you can play together on the PS3 only. I am aware of no games that are multi-player with PS3 and PC. On the bright side, you will only need one copy of the game instead of two copies but you will need two controllers.
