Bachmann: This is the time for states to ban gay marriage.
Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann on Friday thanked proponents of banning gay marriage.

Bachmann, who is often cited as eyeing a bid for the GOP nomination for president, made her remarks in a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington.

The 55-year-old House Tea Party caucus chairman recounted her previous efforts as a Minnesota state senator to approve an amendment that would define marriage as a heterosexual union in the Minnesota Constitution and praised current lawmakers who have sent such a question for voters to approve in 2012. (Related: Bachmann says that God told her to sponsor the amendment.)

“Minnesota is the first state that has decided that this issue will be on the ballot in 2012, the state of New Hampshire will be taking this issue up as well, and other states. This is the time. And so I want to encourage all of you at home, if you don’t have a similar amendment, consider this in your home states. I believe this is the time to do it. So I just want to say thank you to those who continue to carry that torch.” (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

1. Bachmann, as a happily-married straight man who supports marriage equality 100%:
Go to Hell!

And STAY there!...

2. Time to ban her.
I noticed she didn't feel like banning farm subsidies.

I can't believe Minnesota keeps electing her. What is wrong with people in her district?

3. The only way to stop gays and gay marriage is for
those damn heterosexuals to stop having kids!
Tell 'em Michelle! Tell 'em that if they believe in the cause that they must quit having kids.
Every homosexual ever came from a heterosexual union.
And to be sure they don't have kids, they must give up sex! Stand up and LEAD, Michelle. They will follow!

4. She has a sister that is a lesbian
Shows how much empathy bachmann has

In many speeches when she has talked about growing up she never mentions her sister........

7. How very sad...
...for her sister. I cannot imagine losing a relative or a friend over the issue of the person being gay, bi, trans...whatever. That is just so unimportant.

Hug for the sister from me...

5. The NH "vote" is an RW fantasy
So far, the jerks in the NH House haven't tried it this term - too busy doing the Koch Bros. bidding on "Right to Work" and hacking away at State pensions.

8. She probably doesn't think blacks and whites should be able to marry either.
The tea party is WAY WAY far from the thinking of the majority of Americans. It's interesting to watch the Republicans letting them drive their party into a ditch.
