I love your grandkids and you inspire me to have a raised garden on my patio and I'm delighted you've learned how to post photos. It makes our lives richer.

We don't really suck. really. At least we try not to in the Lounge.

You DO have lovely family, first off. And a man with a fine sense of decorating skill! Kudos to you both!


As for posting, seems to me that threads sometimes get lost in the shuffle cause there are a lot of threads posted here. I've posted at large forums, and at itty bitty tiny ones, too. When a thread moves off the main page, it sometimes sinks just cause people are only looking at the latest things posted. It's not a reflection on your family, at all.

I did view your post, but sometimes I don't respond. Don't know why I do or don't respond, other then I am more likely to respond to a totally goofy-ass post then any other type. I don't feel guilty about it, I do feel guilty about not responding to posts of sorrow that we sometimes leave here. It's painful to read those and for some reason I feel that responding is even more painful.

Since you choose to make a "thing" about it, I just responded to your op.

geez, I been busy - barely had time to make calls to MFM and post a few updates

these kinds of posts make me really uncomfortable - I mean what do you do? ya get told you suck but you sort of have an excuse, on the other hand if you go reply everybody knows it was because of getting called out for not doing it earlier. Then there is the whole "well they didn't reply to my post about blah blah so what is the big deal?" Also there is the sort of half admiration for people to go directly after the attention they feel they deserve, while also resenting the manipulation.

I've been here for 10 years, donate regularly, have been a mod, have traveled to other cities to meet folks in person, have received flowers from DUers in the hospital and I often post threads that no one replies to. Part of me thinks, "Doesn't anyone like me anymore?" But I just have to notice that thought and let it go.

It's actually only been a relatively short while that we've had internet communities and online relationships. The signals and social cues that we are used to work a little differently in this world. Especially because there is so much instant gratification on the web, it's easy to overreact when people don't respond to you. Step back. Don't internalize.

who looked at your photos but didn't post. I wholeheartedly agree that pic threads in particular should be judged by views, if you feel like you need to judge them at all, not by replies. I've been in that boat, where I've proudly posted a series of pics of things that mean a lot to me, or written a post or response that I put a lot of time into...and gotten nothing back. Totally depends on who sees it, when they see it, what other things people have going on in their lives and brains at the moment they're looking at what you put up.....you just can't take it personally.
All that being said, I have to admit that I thought it would be kind of creepy for me (someone you don't know from adam...or eve, for that matter) to post, out of the blue, "nice pics, and your niece is absolutely gorgeous!"

(she is, by the way. stunning.)

If nothing else...look at how many people made a point to comment on this thread! If no one cared, this would have sunk out of sight with only a response or two as well.
