1. Crush or mix into his most smelly and yummy food. Or I used to put them in Gerber's Pureed Liver or
Something like that my vet recommended.

That's part of what I call Option 1:

Maybe some Fancy Feast? It's got a strong enough taste that they really like it. Or put it with some raw meat the monster favors and that will disguise the smell. Or mixed in with a mixture of milk, raw egg and fish oil. The nose will tell the guy it's not a pill.

You may prefer what I call Option 2:

Unless you want to be conventional and ram them down the throat, then I'd suggest leather or meat cutter's gloves and wrapping the beast completely in a thick towel or blanket. Some people put the pill in liquid form and administer with an eye dropper, preferably a plastic one. Or else beastie can tongue it out very well.

Be prepared to have a harder time every time you repeat Option 2.

Good luck.

:hi:

3. If this ^^^ does not work for you, try a pill gun.
There are lots of them, but mine looks like this -http://www.amazon.com/Mikki-Pill-Gun/dp/B00076HUB4

4. Greenies pill pockets

They work! My cats don't even know that they are being pilled.
Check your local vet

8. They do work
The pill pocket is very doughy. You can completely hide the pill.
My girl cat is very hard to pill and she rips through these.

15. And you don't have to stress your pet by forcing a pill in them
You just drop it like a cat treat. (Those greenie bastards should pay me)

9. First: buy yourself a suit of armor....and use it.
On a more serious level, I've found my big bruisers are a bit dumb, and they can be pilled fairly quickly and easily. You might want to buy one of those pilling things they sell in pet places where you just pry their mouth open with the puller, and push it in just to closer near their throat, and hit the plunger.

I've always found the smaller kitties are more ferocious than the boys who are bigger but more docile. (At least in my household!)

10. My big male has already figured out the routine (after 1 pill) and is running away
from me whenever I approach. So I took someone's advice and bought some meat babyfood. He loves it and at the pill whole when it was mixed in with the meat on a spoon. The only bad thing is Monster has pancreatitus (I hope, cause if not it could be cancer) and is on a special diet. But I just have to give him the little taste of babyfood. Force feeding him the pill will simply not work at all. Plus when he gets mad at me he attacks.

11. The baby food was what my vet recommended for my cats when they were seriously ill. Fingers crossed.
And loving vibes to your poor kiddie, pancreatitus is very painful and dangerous in people and pets.

14. I wrap mine in a towel. Think "swaddling." Then I slip a butter coated pill down her throat. It
doesn't hurt her but she does get annoyed!

Wrap your little precious gently but FIRMLY in the towel.

28. I have a whole system going now. I drape a beach towel across the seat of a kitchen chair
and plant kitteh in the middle of it on her side, with my hand clamping her down around the shoulders and neck. Not hard, but firm enough that she won't wiggle. Then I wrap the towel around her twice (she's little) and actually tuck it under her legs because if they get out I get scratched. A lot! LOL

18. Alley and Mini-Alley volunteer at the "Best Friends Animal Society".
The BFAS crushes pills and mixes them with beef or chicken babyfood. My daughter has her old rubber tipped baby spoon and likes to give our kitties treats by feeding them babyfood. Our kitties go crazy for it..

20. I always beg for liquid form of any medication for my cats
i would rather squirt liquid in their mouth and take a chance of some of it going down the hatch, I know I could never get any of my 3 cats to take anything in pill form.

21. Soft cheese squished into a ball around the pill.
If he's a monster cat, I'll assume that means he likes to eat. Mine does.

22. Show it the pill and the rectal thermometer...
Inform kitty it has the choice. I think it'll know which one is the least intrusive.

23. yah pill pockets work
also those soft friskies treats can be wrapped around a pill, and they are cheaper than pill pockets.

In dire cases, a good pharmacy can "formulate" the med into a liquid that can be rubbed inside the cat's ears -- and absorbed that way. But that's desperate stuff.

24. Wrap the cat up in a towel so its legs and arms are secure.
Then gently open its mouth and drop the pill inside. Hold the mouth shut until the cat swallows the pill. This is how the vet tech at my animal hospital gave it to my cat and I was able to do it at home by myself.
