1. He taught me to fish, to clean fish, to ride a horse,
and to shoot a twelve gauge.

He is eighty-nine now, and still an outdoorsman.

6. My Uncle Bob was one of the greatest people that ever lived
After high school and a tour of duty in the army, he had a long career as a school janitor. While in his early 30s, he got married to a woman with a daughter from a previous marriage. Some years later, his wife abruptly left, not to be heard from again for decades. My Uncle Bob never remarried, but successfully raised her daughter to adulthood on his own (along with a son he and his wife had together) on what little salary he had. As far as he was concerned, she was his daughter.

Sadly, he passed away a few years ago, surrounded by his stepdaughter, her husband and three grandchildren who all loved him dearly. To this day she still, as she has always, refers to him as "Dad."

He was the most selfless person I have ever known.

11. Yes he was. Uncle Bob was a Conductor on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
Sometimes he would take me on runs to Cincinnati. He would tell my mom that we were going to the zoo or museum but we always went to his favorite beer joint. He would drink nickel beers with salt in them and I had Cokes and chili dogs. On the trip back to Columbus he would tell me what to tell my mother we saw at the zoo or museum.

18. A Great Uncle Bob, I loved
He wore bib overalls, had a steel plate in his head from the war and farmed a big place in Breckenridge Co. He let me grow our cucumber patch, about an acre, that we sold to a pickle factory right down the road. My cousin and I split 1/2 with him. We were making big bucks, maybe $10 some days. One of the few family members I liked. Still miss him. He chewed Mammoth Cave large twist chewing tobacco and grew it but did not smoke. Thanks for the memory starter.

I named my oldest son after him, so he's a "II".
