Both of them are third degree black belts, but he out-ranks her because he's got more stripes (there are multiple tests between belt degrees - one stripe per test). He doesn't show up as regularly as she does, but when he's there he has rank and usually leads warm-ups. Last night that involved WAY too many kicks - over 100 per leg, and ones that are painful.
