1. I'm scared of seeing any movie that can change a nationality of an army in ONLY two scenes
All they did was change the chinese characters into Korean characters and edit two scenes. I think this is going to be such a sucky movie now.

2. It would take a lot of work to make it worse than the original
But I suspect that they'll manage it.

3. I will not see the new "Red Dawn" in the theaters...
I'm paranoid I'll be surrounded by a bunch of teabaggers jerking off to the movie.

4. North Koreans? Surely, they can't be serious...
And how are they going to get here, by balloon?

Some things should never be remade, especially by morons.

13. It was supposed to be the Chinese - in fact many parts of the film had to be re-edited
to change the Chinese to North Koreans. Ugh. I hate censorship.

"Without Beijing even uttering a critical word, MGM is changing the villains in its 'Red Dawn' remake from Chinese to North Korean. It's all about maintaining access to the Asian superpower's lucrative box office."

~snip~

"As a result, the filmmakers now are digitally erasing Chinese flags and military symbols from "Red Dawn," substituting dialogue and altering the film to depict much of the invading force as being from North Korea, an isolated country where American media companies have no dollars at stake."

21. That isn't censorship. It's marketing 101.
Movie is already an insult no matter who the so-called bad guys are.

24. It's both
and yeah, i have no intention of watching that movie. I'm much more concerned about "The Cabin in the Woods" being picked up and distributed. Was originally set to be released in February of 2010! Stupid MGM and their horrible finances.

It would have been every bit as believable, and at least we're already fighting them.

18. I'm trying to imagine North Korean soldiers in a U.S. city...
... sucked immediately into a Super Wal-Mart where they would stuff themselves with junk food, watch television, and race gleefully up and down the aisles on bicycles.

I think they'd be more of a danger to themselves than to others.

They can sing "badger badger badger" and piss off the invaders.

25. They filmed this in my area.
A lot of the scenes were filmed in Pontiac and Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

I saw a little bit of the original on tv once. Not really my genre, I prefer comedies and serious dramas to shoot-em-ups.

36. So basically it's "Homefront: The Movie"
Edited on Sun Mar-27-11 01:18 AM by Yukari Yakumo
Oh, this is too delicious...

Homefront is set in a near future America in 2027 when a nuclear-armed Korean People's Army invades the USA. The game is written by John Milius, who co-wrote Apocalypse Now and wrote/directed Red Dawn. The opening gameplay is reportedly set in Montrose, Colorado.<8>
