Random ? re: Twitter

That is: to sign up or not?

I have watched how my wife has used Twitter quite well as a social media outlet for developing her business, but what about from a personal perspective? I can see some benefits to my job (i.e., "following" certain companies), but what else?

I realize it's "good by to privacy."

1. I use it for amusement value generally

There are some very witty political/sports commentators on there. You would be surprised at the amount of snark you can get in 140 characters. I find it interesting also to hear some of the personal thoughts of certain high profile folks in certain situations (scientists, atheletes, media, certain political figures).

2. the question I've always had is: How do you know it's really who they say it is?

Is there some kind of authentication process? :shrug: </luddite>

3. Yes, twitter has a verification process for the big name celebrities

Sometimes though, the fake twitter accounts are much more fun than the real deal (I follow JaysonWerthsBeard and somehow I think this guy is much more funny and witty than the real thing!:rofl:)

4. I use it purely for entertainment.

I'm addicted to it now. It's fun if you follow people who have similar interests.
