Octogenerian drives wrong way on I-10 bayway (Mobile, AL)

Note: The I-10 Bayway is an 8 mile long bridge across Mobile Bay. There are actually two bridges (or elevated highways), one eastbound and one westbound. It has one very narrow breakdown lane in each direction. I have to wonder what this geezer's last thought was.

MOBILE, Alabama - Alabama State Troopers have identified the driver involved in a deadly crash that happened on I-10 around 9:40 Thursday night.

Donald Davis, 80, was killed when his (pickup) truck crashed head-on with a 1998 Toyota Camry. Davis, who lived in Biloxi, was driving the wrong-way on the I-10 Bayway, according to investigators.

The driver of the Camry, Jason Fletcher, 29, is in critical condition at the USA Medical Center.

The driver of a third car, Murray Driskell, 60, was not seriously hurt.
