Some women believe it’s never too early to start an anti-aging beauty regiment, but an anti-aging cosmetics line geared towards eight to 12-year-olds have many questioning whether such products are necessary, or healthy for children’s self-perception.

Little girls won't be needing to dip into mommy's purse to play with lipstick and blush, Wal-Mart is rolling out a new youth preserving line called “Geo-Girl” consisting of 69 cosmetic products.

The brand includes everything from exfoliators to blush and mascara, all aimed towards the “tween” ages, who have an estimated $2 billion in buying power.

The items feature texting lingo inspired-names such as lipshine called “GR8” (which means great) to appeal to the young and technically savvy, but Dr. Logan Levkoff told Good Morning America that the brand is more likely to appeal to the dangerous desire to associate a girl’s self-worth with her outward appearance.

1. Running a little late there, Madison Avenue
Some little girls have already developed some self esteem by the time they are 8. Maybe it's time to pitch this a little younger? Gotta make sales, sales, sales! If you're going to get girls caught up in the appearance = worth equation, you have to get them early on.

2. If it's cheap Chinese-made crap like everything else at Sprawl-Mart,
it'll cause the poor tweeners to age prematurely. :(

4. To be honest, it's never too early to start with good skin care
Especially since skin cancer is on an increase thanks to our destroyed ozone layer. I would hope those makeups include sunscreen, which in the long run will only help prevent aging.

BEcause I was so fairskin and my mother started me on Oil of Olay when I was really young, my skin looks much younger than my age. And I've seen the girls I've graduated, girls who would tease me for being so pale skinned while they slathered baby oil and lay out in the sun. THey are wrinkled old looking women. I guess I got the last laugh!
