Recently my TV won’t stay on the right channel.

It keeps switching back to channel 3 (Home shopping, in my area.).

I kept having to change it back over and over again. Sometimes it will stay on the other channel for minutes, sometimes for seconds.

I tried turning the remote so that the beam was facing in another direction.

It still changed the channel! Anyone every had this problem? Makes me long for the good old days when you actually had to get up to change the channel.

It's done this before, but never as much as it did last weekend.

1. Sounds like the Home Shopping Channel virus has invaded
your system.
No, seriously, I suppose it is one of the components burning out or something.
On the old tvs it used to be the vertical or horizontal hold that would go out. It was probably a tube in those days, today a transistor or chip.
These products today are like light bulbs. After a while they burn out, and you have to throw them out and get a new one.

2. Is there a key on the remote that is stuck?
That might do it.

7. It could be? Maybe? Possibly. Too much soda spilled on the
remote. Too much grease on the hands from the popcorn. Or, maybe even bad batteries in the remote?
All worth a check to see.

4. Could be worse. Could switch to Fox.
The first tv we had when I was a child was a BW with remote. I had a silver bracelet of the 10 commandments which would change the channels when I shook it.

9. "Could be worse. Could switch to Fox."
I had that happen sometime last year (summer, I think.) Turns out the neighbor directly below me also has Dish Network. While I was trying to just surf the grid for something to watch, it kept switching to programming the DVR for, of all things, shows on Faux News. Now, what's even weirder, is that she's a teacher and she reads the Tao with a group that meets monthly to study a single verse each time. She's also big on karma. And she watches Faux.

I still can't figure that one out.

As to the problem above, it does sound like some other remote is on the exact same frequency, or some other wireless tech is interfering...

6. If it isn't the remote, it might be the converter box itself
or the TV tuner, if you don't have one.
