1. Check this eyesore out, I see it every fucking day of my life.
And I HATE it.
Why?

There is an 18-story elephant in Altamonte Springs that city officials do not want to talk about. This 18-story elephant is officially called the Majesty Building, and the CEO of the SuperChannel dubbed it a "monument to Christian charity," in a quote from an Orlando Business Journal article. But, to many Altamonte Springs residents it has become known as "The Mistake by the Lake."

The Majesty building sits on Central Parkway near the Interstate Four overpass as an empty glass shell that has been under construction since 2000. Many residents wonder as they drive by the unfinished landmark what is taking so long to finish the project, it has been eight years already and there is no projected completion date that has not already passed.

The building is owned by the local Orlando Christian television station The SuperChannel, and the reason the project has taken 8 years and counting to complete is the station has vowed to build the project debt free using donations from viewers and support from business claiming a portion of the office space on the buildings floors five to 17.

"A monument to Christian charity,"

You know what?
FUCK YOU.
And don't think I miss an opportunity to rub it in the faces of my conservative "Christian" co-workers.
Assholes.
I hate this fucking building.

3. It must be a Florida tradition to build churches slowly
Between Bartow and Lakeland on US 98 during most of my childhood and teenage years there was a church under construction. Same deal, the congregation wanted to build it debt free. Most of the materials were donated by members and most of the work was done by the pastor. We'd drive by and there would be another row of concrete blocks added since the previous month.

It took over ten years for the guy to get it far enough along for the roof, then it sat for a few more years while they raised the money to buy the trusses and hire a company to put the trusses up. Then it was years more before they got the interior finished, but I think they were having services in it when it was still an empty shell.

8. It's because contractors can't even remodel a small bathroom.
Not without creating a lot of havoc in the process, anyway. :banghead:
