Any steampunk lovers in here?
I would retrofit my entire house in steampunk if I could get away with it. In the meantime, I will simply lust after this computer keyboard:

2. Steampunk is one of those rare, truly interesting movements with a life of its own.
It's like peeking into a very close alternate reality...and it's cool.

5. I love the computer stuff

6. Seeing a lot of this style in street rods these days
Dragsters and open wheel oval cars have had some of this vibe since they became what they are. John Butera dragster:

Tom Hanna dragster:

Note the number of parts machined from bar stock, and the lightweight (old aircraft) style of tubular fabrication

9. Very cool!
I love steampunk. I think it's so very interesting. It always gives you so much to look at and consider.

I made these earrings a couple of weeks ago and posted them here:

12. "Steampunk" to me refers to a literary style of science fiction.
"Steampunk" novels are set in Victorian times, featuring steam-powered everything and containing occult references. Now it appears to have a larger cultural footprint, encompassing music and decor.

This is fascinating. It was such a small subgenre, in the 80's and 90's, I think. Is this a doubly retro retro-chic thing?

14. I already play two instruments that have not changed in over a hundred years.
Piano and violin.

Except that fiddle strings are now gut wrapped in silver, instead of just gut.

And pianos have plastic keys instead of ivory keys.
